ILLICIT drugs, a rifle and an unregistered vehicle were detected by police during a three-day blitz on roads around Walgett.

On Thursday at 8.50am, highway patrol officers stopped a motor vehicle for the purpose of a random breath test.
The 55-year-old male driver was also subjected to a random drug test which he failed.
"Due to unrelated matters the vehicle was searched and cannabis and a rifle were located," police said.
"The driver was arrested and conveyed to Walgett Police station where he made a number of admissions to the offences put to him. The driver was charged with the related offences."
Speeding motorist, illicit drugs found
At 4.15pm on Friday, Walgett police detected a motor vehicle travelling at 163km/h in a sign posted 110km/h speed zone.
Officers stopped the vehicle and the 31-year-old driver spoken to and allegedly told police she had no idea she was travelling that fast.

"Due to an unrelated matter the vehicle was searched and a quantity of ice and cannabis was located," police said.
"The female driver received an infringement for the speed and the 52-year-old male passenger was arrested in relation to the illicit drugs."
Unregistered and on the road
At 4.15pm on Saturday, highway patrol officers detected a heavy vehicle travelling north on the Gwydir Highway just north of Walgett.
"The heavy vehicle was stopped as there was no number plate mounted on the rear of the last trailer," police said.
"The 48-year-old male driver was spoken to and it was discovered that neither trailer or the combination was registered, that he was not carrying a work diary as required (and not working within 100 kilometre base radius) and that his drivers licence had expired in 2019.
The driver was charged with these matters.
Then at 7.35pm on the same day, the heavy vehicle combination was stopped by Collarenebri police on Herbert Street in Collarenebri and the same male was driving.
He was arrested and conveyed to Walgett Police station where he is currently in custody.
