More than 520 flu vaccines have been administered to residents at the Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) in the past week.
"This is great news for our Wellington community who have got on board with getting their flu vaccinations early and the majority of these are our regular patients," a WACHS spokesperson said.
"Our clinic doctors and staff have all been working hard to administer the vaccines including working on Good Friday to assist those in the community that are still working and unable to come during the regular clinic hours."
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, WACHS have adjusted operations this year.
Flu vaccinations are being administered outside the clinic to adhere to the social distancing rules.
WACHS have also been providing Tele-Health appointments for patients to ensure they are less likely to come in contact with others.
"Although the flu vaccinations does not guard you against the COVID-19 virus, it will assist everyone to stay healthy over the forthcoming winter months," the WACHS spokesperson said.
About one thousand flu vaccinations were administered in 2019 to a range of WACHS clients, but the Wellington health clinic is set to surpass that figure this year.
WACHS are encouraging the entire community to get a flu vaccination this winter.
