The research was undertaken following the influx of solar farms under development in the region.
The proposed sites, if such a village was ever needed, are on: Gisborne Street, Curtis Street, Pierce Street and Montefiore Street.
When proposing the idea be investigated, councillor David Grant said having the workers stay in town would be a huge boost for the economy.
"At the moment there's a huge gap between the accommodation and the number of people who are going to be coming into the city, into the town of Wellington. It's a good way for council getting onto the front foot," he said.

Now the research has been undertaken, Cr Grant said it could be utilised by any solar farm looking to set up temporary accommodation.
"Obviously in the current climate, who knows what kind of impact that will have on this type of facility," he said.
"We do have a bit of work that has to be done and hopefully someone will come along now and use this information."
When the jail was being constructed, Cr Grant said the majority of workers stayed outside Wellington. He hopes a temporary village would encourage the solar farm workers to stay and spend locally.
