On Saturday I spent a few hours in Cameron Park participating in the Wellington Rotary markets.

It was a fantastic experience with plenty of people coming down for the occasion.
While I was there I had a chance to admire the park for what it is.
Very few towns or cities are lucky enough to have such a picturesque scene as part of their main street, especially with the Bell River sitting just behind the park.
Council is working on a masterplan to continue the beautification of Cameron Park and other works are ongoing including the construction of an exciting new playground in front of the Wiradjuri Community Space and a new amenities block will also be constructed.
Work on the playground is going extremely well and there should be news soon on when that will open.
Similarly, work at the Community Space is progressing and I am very excited about how that will add to the tourist attractions at Wellington and the wider region.
All of this will enhance Cameron Park and I am also excited by future plans for the park which include a new and disability-friendly bridge across the Bell River.
This is subject to funding becoming available but would be a welcome addition.
There is absolutely no doubt about it. Cameron Park is the jewel in the crown of Wellington. Everywhere I go across Australia people who know Wellington mention this beautiful park. It's therefore essential that council look after it and treat it as the special place that our residents and visitors love.
I want to thank everyone who came along to the markets and took the opportunity to raise any issues with me.
When I hold a stall at various markets or hold my regular Meet the Mayor events in Wellington or at the villages, the purpose is to give people a chance to talk to me.
At times people have said they felt their council wasn't accessible enough or the elected representatives aren't approachable.
I am determined to address that.
In addition to attending the Dubbo Farmers Markets, Dubbo Rotunda Markets and Wellington Rotary Markets where my schedule and commitments allow, I also hold regular Meet the Mayor events at Made in Wello every Wednesday between 9am and 11am.
I find these events a fantastic way to find out what is concerning people and attempt to get them an answer to their concerns.
Some I can answer on the spot while some that are more complex I have to go back and get an answer from staff and come back to them.
Unfortunately, I can't always give people the answer they want, but I feel it is important to get them the right answer.
It's probably not hard to guess that one of the hot topics at the moment is water.
Sometimes it is about complying with restrictions, what rebates council is offering, or since the recent rain, a common question has been when water restrictions will be eased.
I understand why people want this to happen but council has to make sure it doesn't do anything irresponsible that could leave the region short of water if we return to a period of dry water. We will work with Water NSW and other stakeholders and we will let everyone once a decision is made.
