The Hurricanes booked a finals berth by downing the Strikers by 10 runs on Australia Day on the back of Matthew Wade's majestic unconquered 130.

With their third successive victory, confidence is high in the Hobart camp entering the play-offs.

"Definitely," Short responded when asked if the 'Canes can go all the way.

"We've won our last three and our team's back to being a pretty strong side.

"We're still missing 'Rizza' (paceman Riley Meredith, side strain) but having Jimmy (Faulkner) back in the bowling line-up (from a calf injury) definitely helps.

"We just scraped in so we can play with freedom and try to get to the final.

"We've got nothing to lose now."

The Hurricanes will finish fourth or fifth, depending on the outcome of today's clash between the Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane.

A Heat win will result in a Brisbane-Hobart eliminator on Thursday at the Gabba, while a Renegades victory will mean the Hurricanes will host the Sydney Thunder in the sudden-death final.

The third-placed Strikers will host the winner of that eliminator in Saturday's knockout final at Adelaide Oval, a prospect Short is relishing.

Short and the brilliant Wade combined for a 203-run opening stand on Sunday, 12 months after they destroyed the Strikers with an unbroken 158-run union in a 10-wicket win at the same picturesque venue.

"We both love batting here," Short said.

"It's a great place to play cricket, especially with the crowd you get here."The wickets you get are always batter-friendly.

"If we come back here we definitely won't be upset about it, that's for sure."
