On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day on eleventh month, the Wellington community came together to pay their respects for Remembrance Day.

This year marked the 101st anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War on November, 11, 1918.
Following The Last Post, a minute silence was held at Cameron Park, as locals wearing poppies reflected on members of the armed forces who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Police, ex-servicemen and women plus members of Wellington Legacy then laid wreaths.

Ex-serviceman and Wellington local Roy Holmes lead the service that morning.
Mr Holmes served in the Royal Australian Navy and said the importance of the day was to remember all of the sacrifices over the years that people have given for this country.
His father, Jack Holmes, was also an ex-serviceman who served in the Second World War,
"I hope people can continue to remember, stop and just have the minute silence to reflect on what has built this nation - the grounding for this nation," he said.

Mr Holmes said it was always good to see members of the community come out to pay their respect.
"That people do take the time to show that respect and remember," he added.
The ex-serviceman was wearing a knitted poppy that his mother had made.

In his address at the service, Mr Holmes said the poppies are a link between our comrades and those who remain.
Chris Wykes also paid his respects on Remembrance Day. He too served for the Royal Australian Navy, in the Vietnam War.
Mr Wykes said the day was about remembering the fallen.
This year also marked 100 years of the Wellington RSL sub-branch.
