Unfortunately the local team were unsuccessful in claiming the title this year, going down to Griffith Three Ways 10-14 in round two.
Wellington Wedgetails vice president Adam Ryan said like the women's side, the men's game was one that went down to the wire.
Their performance certainly stuck out to NRL star and Griffith player Andrew Fifita, who came over to the Wellington team after the game to praise their efforts.
"Our guys were happy to have someone like his stature come in to the circle and say that. It was pretty good," Ryan said.
The vice president was proud of both the men and women Wedgetails teams during the 2019 Knockout, with the women taking home the championship this year.
"It's hard work getting stuff ready for Knockouts and whatnot... but to come away with the goods at the end of it, it makes it all worth it," Ryan said.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
The men's Wedgetail side were made up of local players, Ryan said, who just want to "pull the jumper on" and play together and for their communities.
"And that's the main thing," he said.
"That's what it (the Koori Knockout) is all about."
The vice-president said there was a wonderful feeling about the club with some awesome people involved who are doing great things.
"We're going to just build and build I think," he said.
Griffith Three Ways progressed through to the men's grand final against the South Coast Black Cockatoos, but were beaten 40-12.
The 50th Koori Knockout will now be held in the South Coast area in 2020 and Ryan said both Wellington Wedgetails teams were preparing for it.
Other NRL stars with ties to the central west including Josh Addo-Carr, Jesse Ramien, and Brent Naden, also featured in the four-day event.
Naden, a former Wellington Cowboys junior and current Pentrith Panthers star, was able to see his sister win in the Wellington Wedgetails women's final against the Bellbrook Dunghutti Connections.
