The 2019 'delicious' awards were held in Sydney recently where the Wellington poultry farmers were among the winning producers in the 'from the Paddock' category for their Heritage Sommerlad Chicken.
They were nominated by Darren O'Rourke, from butchery Victor Churchill in Woollahra.
The husband and wife won at the NSW state level in 2018 and were then asked to submit their product for national judging this year.
After starting Grassland Poultry in 2015 on their property, Meramie, the business has grown from strength to strength.
Mrs Kiss described winning a gold as "such an honour" and a surprise as they were among produce of such a high standards.

But the win has reaffirmed the Kiss family that they are on the right track.
"Especially because we have been going through such a big dry spell and the birds are still holding their quality in every way," she explained.
"It's just nice to know that these heritage birds that we're growing are doing the right thing."

Mrs Kiss thanked Darren for his nomination, as well as Grassland Poultry customers from Wellington and beyond.
"Than you to all the people who buy our chickens and also to Feather and Bone Pevedoros who have a;ways supported us and bought our chicken," she said.
"We wouldn't be able to do what we do if there wasn't so many people who thought our products were good like we did."
