The warrior men nominated a third grade team at the beginning of this soccer season with a whopping 22 registered men to have a run in the field.
The numbers were high, yes, but the men were positive they could make it work for the best outcome. Setting two nights aside a week to work on ball skills and to participate in Paul "Killer" Miller's deadly workout routines really united the large team size.
Playing 17 games over the season the men have accumulated a total of 44 goals scored with eight wins six losses and three draws finishing second on the ladder over all.
Working with such large numbers this year the men should be proud of their achievements so far. Coming up to the grand final this Sunday. Wellington warriors men will take the field against Macquarie at 11am in Dubbo.
Women's warriors
The women's warriors are in their fourth year into the competition. Starting off with little to no skills in the first season. We have grown each year and recruited new players coming close in 2018 to making the grand final but just losing out by one game.
This year would have to be our best season yet, picking up a lot of new players and building on our skills and fitness.
Paul 'killer' Miller has been a big asset to our team this year running us hard at training and building up our stamina.
The women have had a few tough games this season but coming away with a win each week. Very proud of our efforts and how much we have all grown this season.
We are undefeated at 16 wins for the season and hoping to bring a big win home in the grand final coming up against SDW on Sunday.
Leading the girls into the grand final this year as a first for the women's warriors is a big achievement, and honour to have been able to play alongside all these talented girls. I'm Hoping we can bring home the trophy for the wellington club!
