The proud Wiradjuri man first became interested in barbering at the age of 10 and taught himself to cut hair with friends and family his first clients.

He has since honed his fading skills after undertaking a TAFE NSW Certificate III course in Barbering at the Ultimo campus for two days per week for a year.

"I learnt many new skills, but the real highlights were working with scissors and fine-tuning my technical skills such as traditional cuts, designs and building relationships with clients," he said.

Now this he has finished his course, Corey has opened his own barber shop from house in Wellington and also operates a chair out of AHM Hair Design in Dubbo.

While he is best known for his fashionable hair creations, Corey is also passionate about helping kids within the community through his role at Joblink Plus and Brothers 4 Recovery.

His Joblink Plus youth mentor role sees Corey working with vulnerable young people in helping them get into jobs and study.

"I also like to encourage them to play basketball another passion of mine," he added.

While in Brothers 4 Recovery, Corey travels across the state meeting with people to share his own life story provides encouragement to Aboriginal communities affected by drugs and alcohol.

"I had a rough childhood, cutting hair and listening to music was the one thing that got me through," Corey explained.

"A haircut can mean a lot to somebody. There's a real difference between shaving off hair to one length, to cutting a nice fade or with hair slicked back. It makes me feel good when I see how happy my clients are with their new hair cut."
