The Redbacks walked away comfortably with a 20-6 win against the Roos and a bonus point.
Matthew Watson was the first to put points on the scoreboard for the Redbacks, which was followed by Mitchell Brien, William Jameson and Christopher Daley.
While the Roos points came from Hugh Wesley's penalties.
Wellington's coach Greg Brien said he was happy with the win, despite the circumstances.
Brien was pleased with the way his side started during the first 10 minutes of the game, but admitted the Redbacks lost their way afterwards and didn't earn the right to go wide.
"Instead of carting the ball up the middle and then moving the ball wide, we wanted to go wide straight away and it probably didn't help us at all," he explained.
"We let ourselves down today. They're a good side Coolah and they're a good, tough side. We're probably our own worst enemy right from the start ... but we got away with it in the end."

But Brien said he doesn't want to just get away with it, especially with semi-finals this weekend.
"You want to stamp your authority on the game and we didn't do that today. We got our bonus point, we got our four tries and the rest of it is up to the rugby Gods as to what happens in the other games," he said.
"We did what we came to do, but not under very convincing circumstances."
In the women's competition, the Wellington Redbacks won their game against the Orange Emus 51-22.
We got our bonus point, we got out four tries and the rest of it is up to the rugby Gods as to what happens in the other games.
- Greg Brien, Wellington Redbacks coach
This weekend the senior men's Redbacks will take on the Molong Magpies at home. Brien said there wasn't much difference between the top four teams, which consists of Wellington, Molong, Geurie and Coolah respectively.
"We've just got to be mentally strong and do what we need to do.. we'll just play our style of football and hopefully that's good enough on the day," he said.
The other Oilplus Cup match on the weekend saw the Geurie Goats travel to Molong and lose to the Magpies 30-17. While the Yeoval Eagles won their away game against Canowindra 22-12.
