The decision to grant bail to an Adelaide man charged with manufacturing and possessing explosives has been overturned, after a Supreme Court justice raised concerns about the "frightening" circumstances of the case.

Aaron Ellis, 43, was arrested last month after police found a dangerous and highly volatile material and other weapons at his northern suburbs property.
He was last week granted bail by a magistrate, but police immediately flagged they would seek a review.
Justice Martin Hinton said on Monday some of the allegations were particularly serious and warranted keeping Ellis behind bars.
"The upshot of them is that there is a reasonable suspicion that the respondent was intending to cause harm," he said.
"I cannot think, and no one in this court has offered, any lawful explanation for engaging in such conduct."
Justice Hinton remanded Ellis in custody but adjourned the bail review until July to give prosecutors time to progress their case.
Suburban streets were shut down for several hours in April as police detonated the explosive material in four controlled blasts in the backyard of Ellis' home.
