At 8.50pm on August 15, police from Orana Mid-Western Police District were patrolling Gisborne Street in Wellington when they observed a vehicle and its sole occupant acting in a suspicious manner. Police stopped the vehicle and formed a reasonable suspicion about the occupant being under the influence or in possession of a prohibited substance.

The driver and vehicle were searched and the driver produced to police a sandwich sized zip lock bag containing 25 grams of cannabis estimated to be worth about $500.

The driver was arrested and conveyed to Wellington Police Station where she was charged for possession of prohibited drugs. The female was granted conditional bail to appear ta Wellington Local Court on September 18.
