Just in case you don’t know…
The Mount Arthur Challenge is two running events; the five kilometre ‘wallaby run’ and the nine kilometre ‘wedgetail challenge’, and one cycling event, the 50 kilometre ‘limestone ride.’
Money raised from the challenge goes to the Mount Arthur Reserve Trust. Any profit made by the annual event goes to fund the ongoing maintenance and management of the Mount Arthur reserve.
So here are some logistics...
If you’re running the nine kilometre ‘Wedgetail Challenge’ will commence at 11am. The ‘Wallaby Run’ commences at 11.15am. Runners in the nine k have to be over 14 and unaccompanied juniors in the 5k have to be over 10 years.
People who have put their name down for the ‘Wedgetail Challenge’ have been warned of the steep ascent.
Runners are expected to finish the course within two hours.
Electronic timing is used, so runners need to hold onto their bibs. Participants are required to clock off on the finishing mats even if they don’t finish.
If you’re a team…
Four people can run as a team BUT they have to run (or ride) in the same event.
So where actually is Mount Arthur?
Before the race…
Make sure you’re hydrated and stretched
What you get when you win…

If you’re a rider…
The 50km 'Limestone Ride' commences at 10:00am
The minimum age for a Junior in the 50km ‘Limestone Ride’ is 12 years of age.
The minimum age for an unaccompanied Junior in the 50km ‘Limestone Ride’ is 16 years of age.
Please ensure you are fit enough to complete your event within 3 hours. If you are unable to meet this cut off time and choose to keep cycling, or you depart from the designated event route at any time, you do so as a solo unaccompanied cyclist under regular road conditions without any event support (ie escort vehicles will return to the Showground and pack up of event equipment will have commenced).
Up until the 3 hour mark, participants must ‘clock off’ at the start/finish line timing mats, even if you have withdrawn from your event.
All riders must obey the road rules. Crossing of the centre line of the road is not permitted.
All riders must wear an approved helmet as per legal requirements.
All riders are required to supply their own puncture repair kit. Standard items in a kit are spare inner tubes, a pump or CO2 (carbon dioxide) gas canisters and tyre levers. Riders should be familiar with how to change a flat tyre.
All riders must supply their own water – there will be no formal drink stations provided on the route.
E-BIKES - Participants may enter with an e-bike. Participants on e-bikes are entered in a separate category with their finishing time ranked separately. Participants on e-bikes are NOT eligible for prizes.
Electronic timing is used - your timing chip will be attached to a wrap-around sticker to be attached to your bike.
All riders are encouraged to carry a mobile phone.
In the 50km ‘Limestone Ride’, prizes will be issued to the fastest male and female competitors in the following categories:
- Veteran Champion – Male and Female (participants 35 years and over)
- Open Champion – Male and Female (participants 16 years to 34 years)
- Champion Team - team with the fastest total time of their first 4 members across the finish line.
- There is no prize money on offer.
