The Men’s Shed received $5150 for the installation of two reverse cycle air conditioners. Wellington Men's Shed chair Garry Hayes said it was already making a big difference.
“The air conditioners came about because we had a conference here last September with the Men’s Shed Association. There were about 13 different Men’s Shed’s that came here and it was freezing cold. We were all shivering in here,” Mr Hayes said.
“The guys enjoy it. We haven’t had cooling yet but we’ve certainly had the heating on of a morning and it makes a big difference.”
Federal Member for Calare Andrew Gee said the Men’s Shed offered great benefits to any local men who need a bit of space and some friendly, easy-going company.
“Men are talking about their health more and more, and the men’s shed provides a safe and friendly environment for them to do so. Men’s sheds are integral to the community and the benefits to men’s health are widely acknowledged,” Mr Gee said.
The Men’s Shed also celebrated Mr Gee’s 50th birthday.
Next on the agenda for the Men’s Shed is CCTV cameras.
