Lilly Clarke, Bonni Sheridan, Demi Owens and Natayah Misiepo-Kelly played in the girls team, while Max Mason was picked for the boys side.
“All students played a high standard of touch football all day and should be very proud of their performance,” St Mary’s teacher and touch football coach Alistaire Thompson said.
“A huge congratulations goes to Lilly Clarke, Bonni Sheridan, Demi Owens and Natayah Misiepo-Kelly who have now gained selection into NSW Polding Team to play in the NSW All Schools selections in Cronulla.”
Thompson said the students had set a goal more than a year ago to work hard coming into the trial and dominate.
“They did this and more. They made their own luck through hard work and teamwork.
“They more than deserve to make the team and are all strong chances of the NSW team. So very proud of the commitment and hard work these students have demonstrated and I am just so happy to see them playing so well.”
The girl’s team defeated all the other Diocese teams Forbes/Wilcannia 6-0, Armidale 3-0, Maitland/Newcastle 2-1, Broken Bay 1-0 and Lismore 4-0.
In all their games they only had one try scored against them.
Thompson thanked parents for driving students and St Mary’s secondary girls Sally McCarroll, Ella James, Claudia and Sophie Whiteman for refereeing.
The girls were back in action on Wednesday for St Mary’s at a gala day, before heading to a regional carnival on Thursday.
Polding will play at Cronulla on August 28.
