Sheila Bryant and her daughter Amelia, 20, attended this year’s show, Sheila as judge of the pony club section and Amelia in the junior judging of the Australian Pony Stud Book Society judging Shetland Ponies.
Amelia – who is currently in her third year of nursing at University in Sydney – placed third in the category after qualifying at the Southern Highlands APSB section show.
Having only began her open judging career at the 2017 Gilgandra Show mum Shiela said it was a very special moment.
“It was wonderful, I’d love to think that in her first year of junior judging she may even go on to do judging there one day,” Sheila said.
“I was really excited, I felt so honoured to think that she’s coming through the ranks to be a horse judge like me.”
Sheila hopes to see Amelia follow in her footsteps.
“Hopefully this will be a great beginning for Amelia as I have been judging horses for over 40 years from Hobart to Cairns, Perth in the west to Christchurch, New Zealand,” Sheila said. “I have judged at five different Royals in three different states.
“It was really special to be doing something that I am passionate about.
“My passion is helping young children within the pony club movement where I am chief instructor at Wellington, both my daughters have come up the ranks of Wellington Pony Club.”
