Members of the Wellington Lions met with paramedics at Cameron Park on Monday evening to present them with the $360 worth of items including an air compressor, air hose reel and tyre pressure gauge. 

Station officer, Glen Flanagan, said the service was in need of the items to ensure vehicles and equipment at the station were able to be monitored.

“We really appreciate the donation of an air compressor because part of our regular maintenance of vehicles and equipment is to monitor the tyre pressures and now we can do that in-house which is a lot more convenient for us,” he said.

“We have four permanent ambulances based in Wellington, including a multipurpose vehicle, and having correct tyre pressures makes it safer for ourselves and our patients.

“We’ve always had a good relationship with the Lions Club so this is great, and we would like to thank them for considering us for the donation.”

Lions Club president, Chris Hardy, said the funds used to purchase the compressor were raised through barbecue fundraisers and also the Return and Earn system – an effort the small branch made up of 15 members prides itself on.
