The pair were among 65 entries ranging from 14 years and under to participate in the day at the Wellington Olympic Swimming Pool.
Each competitor vied for their chance to take out the prestigious Barton and Arnold cups and ultimately earn points ahead of the announcement of age champions for 2017/18.
Only one second separated Sarsfield from the rest of the field as he took out the 2018 Barton Cup. Harry O’Donnell and Isaiah Hill were hot on his tail to take out second and third positions.
Tasker was a hot favourite to take out the female division. She went on to win the Arnold Cup title for 2018 – a freestyle race to indicate the fastest female competitor 14 years or under in the club.
Next best were Emily Smith and Alex Morley who took out second and third respectively.
Club president, Donna Cosier, said the club boats a strong range of competitors who are working hard to improve their times.
“There was only a second between first and third in the Barton Cup so there wasn’t a lot in it,” she said.
“Kyla is definitely the strongest swimmer in the girls, as is Emily, and the surprise I thought was Alex so it was fantastic for her to come in third, she was very happy about that.”
Individual results from five years up to open champion will be announced at the club presentation night at a date yet to be confirmed.
