The rain on the southern side of Wellington was disappointing.
At Dubbo last Thursday 3550 prime cattle penned in a fair quality yarding.
There were reasonable numbers to suit feeder orders and good numbers of Western Plains cattle.
Trade cattle were firm to 4 cents cheaper.
Feeder steers and heifers fell 8 to 10 cents.
Restocker cattle were cheaper with young steers topping at 415 cents per kg.
Heavy steers lost 8 cents, heavy heifers made to 270 cents.
Plainer cows dropped 1 to 3 cents, the finished cows were firm.
Quotations:

- steer vealers 305 to 415,
- heifer vealers 270 to 340 cents,
- steer yearlings 259 to 336,
- heifer yearlings 252 to 309,
- heavy steers 254 to 320,
- bullocks 258 to 292,

- light cows 150 to 212,
- medium cows 155 to 224,
- heavy cows 213 to 240,
- bulls 200 to 282.
Friday at Dubbo 1300 store cattle penned, including 330 well bred Santa steers and heifers from Baldry.
The remainder were only of fair quality.
The steer market was firm, weaner steers sold from $570 to $1070 to avg $820 or 359 cents per kg.
Steer yearlings ranged from $840 to $1165 which included the Baldry steers which averaged $1040.
The heifer weaners were cheaper with the exception of the Baldry cattle.
Trading from $340 to $925 to avg $610.
Heifer yearlings realised $470 to $990 with the Baldry heifers averaging $880.
PTIC cows made $810.
Cows and calves sold from $620 to $1890.
Unjoined cows ranged from $650 to $900.00
At Dubbo on Monday 10800 lambs penned with limited numbers of heavy or trade lambs available.
However, there was a good percentage of light weight Dorpers.
Processor light lamb were firm to $3 cheaper.
Trade lambs fell $2 to $3.
Heavy weight lambs rose $3 to $6.
Merino lambs lost $3 with the trade weight ranging from $93 to $124.
Fattening type restocker lambs made to $118.
First cross ewe hoggets reach $148, hoggets topped at $130.

- heavy young lamb $130 to $158,
- supermarket young lamb $150 to $175,
- light lambs $24 to $103,
- medium lamb $105 to $133,

6750 mutton penned in a mixed quality yarding with a larger percentage of plainer sheep.
Plain conditioned sheep lost $7 to $9, with the heavy end firm.

- medium ewes $68 to $127,
- heavy ewes $91 to $158,
- light wethers $68 to $81,
- medium wethers $86 to $110,
- heavy wethers $115 to $140,
- rams $30 to $80.
Schute Bell report that last week’s market was influenced by the largest offering in 3 months of just over 50,000.
Gains occurred on the opening day.
However the final day saw some weaknesses where small losses were recorded.
The finer types along with Merino cardings were the best performers.
However, crossbred types gave ground after the strong surge the previous week.
49,009 bales were sold with a passed in rate of 3.2 per cent.
AWEX figures showed an 8.5% increase in the amount of wool offered for the season to date.
The Northern Region Indicator closed at 1776 cents per kg clean a rise of 9 cents.
