Just shy of 300 riders took to the Geurie Sportsground over the weekend for the town’s annual Spring Campdraft.

A prize pool upward of $8000 drew in competitors from around the Central West who tallied up 1200 runs and 31 hours of drafting over the weekend.
Geurie Campdraft Committee sercreatary, Kylie Squires, said it was an extraordinary turnout given there were four other campdrafts being held over the same weekend.
“They were all full so we took as many runs as we could physically handle in a weekend,” she said.
“We were probably up a little on previous years.”
While competitors travelled from as far away as Coonabarabran, Oberon, Bathurst and Parkes, local riders stuck in to give them a run for their money.
Nigel Kable of Lithgow took out the Ron Weber Memorial Open and the Open for Open on a stallion called Ivory, and runner-up was Chris Cormie,
Meanwhile local committeeman, Glen Peacock, took out the Maiden Draft.
The Novice A Draft was won by James Morse of Molong.
On behalf of the committee Squires thanked the Weber family for donating the cattle and sponsoring the event.
“The Geurie Campdraft Committee would like to thank all their generous sponsors, cattle donors and cattle carters and everyone who came and competed on the weekend, it was a fabulous weekend,” she said.
