What’s New
Animal heroes: In Darwin in 1942, Gunner’s barking alerted an entire air force base of impending air raids, well before the enemy planes appeared on the radar. Following an ambush, Sarbi the explosive detection dog was held captive by the Taliban for over a year, before heading home a hero. And when 135000 horses left Australia for the First World War, why was General Bridges’ charger Sandy the only one to return home? From the donkeys that carried the wounded at Gallipoli to the dolphins that hunted underwater mines in Iraq, these animal heroes are at the heart of some of the most remarkable stories in Australian military history.
Justice Denied: In this tell all book, discover how the justice system works and why, at times, the innocent are convicted and the guilty set free. Bill Hosking QC looks back at his career as a criminal barrister in this candid account of his time at the bar. He tells the true story behind some of his most famous cases, including the Hilton bombings, how the colourful underworld figure Jimmy Driscoll turned the tables on police, the Anita Cobby trial, and a landmark case that changed Australian police procedure forever.
