Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said it was satisfying to see projects such as these proceed.

“Improving roads, footpaths and the streetscape in the Wellington CBD will lift the appeal of the main street and encourage more people to stop and to spend time and money in Wellington,” Mr Grant said.

“The NSW Government will continue to invest in local infrastructure projects that have economic spin-offs,” Mr Grant said.

Dubbo Regional Council Administrator Michael Kneipp said the renewal of the streetscape in the Wellington CBD would complement previous road works in Arthur Street and works planned for Swift Street.

“The infrastructure works will also help create a fresh new look for the Cameron Park area which will be further enhanced with the allocation of funding from the Stronger Communities Grants to the replacement of the Cameron Park playground,” Mr Kneipp said.

The new works to be undertaken include the replacement of kerb and gutter between Warne Street and Maughan Street, replacement of the footpath adjacent to Cameron Park with a patterned finish, planting of 10 ornamental trees on the Western side of the Crescent and linemarking of traffic and bike lanes.

Council’s Administrator Michael Kneipp instructed the works to start following consultation with the Local Representation Committee.

“The former Wellington Council received $1,607,255 in funding from Infrastructure NSW funding for this project and prior to the merger had endorsed the scope of works and resolved to call tenders for the project,” Mr Kneipp said.

“Following consultation with the Local Representation Committee including former Wellington Councillors it was determined the project should proceed as intended by the former Council,” Mr Kneipp said.

Construction is expected to be completed by end of May this year.
