Crockett’s stable has been firing in recent weeks, and he started the day in fine fashion when The Frick $3.00 fav, Greg Ryan) finished strongly to reel in tearaway leader Wilde Irish Dream ($3.80, Jake Pracey-Holmes) in the shadows of the post.
Just 35 minutes later Crockett made it two from two when Mathew Cahill guided Pride Of Venice to victory in the second race of the day.
Pride Of Venice started a $4.00 chance and beat Silvertail ($2.40 fav, Michael Heagney) by one-and-a-half lengths, with local hope Darby Blue ($12.00, Kaylee Kirkwood) steaming home for third.
After London Lady finished third in the fifth race, Crockett’s treble was rounded out when Nictock ($1.80 fav) maintained his unbeaten record in race six.
Once again, Ryan was in the saddle and he got enough out of the three-year-old to fight back and beat Mr Pretty Boy ($9.00, Adrian Layt) and Lucky Assassin ($14.00, James Geppert).
Sunday marked the Wellington Race Club’s first meeting of the year and starts the build-up towards the Wellington Boot, which will be run on March 12, and will coincide with Country Championships Central Districts Qualifier day.
