The first thing on the board’s agenda for the year is finding a new coach.
Mr Sturman said several ideas had been tossed around, and it was about finding the right person.
“We’ve got ideas of what kind of coach we want, but we’d like for someone to approach the club about the job,” Mr Sturman said.
“We don’t want to restrict the search purely to town.
“We would like someone who know’s the club, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they have to come from Wellington,” he said.
Mr Wykes and Mr Sturman agreed that the club is willing in discussing the role with anyone interested, but there must be a mutual understanding.
“It’s as important to find someone who’s as keen about the job as they are qualified for it,” Mr Sturman said.
Mr Wykes said the club would ideally like to find a coach before the start of pre-season.
“If we don’t find one, it will mean a bit more work for the club,” he said.
Mr Sturman said the club is very optimistic about the upcoming season.
“We’ve always been around the top of the table – around the mark – for the last few years, we’ve just never managed to finish on top.
“We’ve certainly got nearly all the pieces of the puzzle to take on the competition this year, we’ve got a great mixture of great older and younger players.
“The coach will hopefully be the last piece, and then we’ll be able to put the puzzle together,” he said.
Mr Wykes and Mr Sturman also announced the club board for 2017:
