The ‘Hear Our Heart Ear Bus Project’ recently won a Women out West Community Award for Outstanding Organisation, and Member for Dubbo Troy Grant has now allocated $50,000 to the program in order to outfit a new bus to provide hearing testing and support to children in the region.

Leeanne Lee at the Wellington Public School has been involved with the project for the past two years and said she was drawn to the organisation because of the way it operates.
“Kid’s come to the school to get their hearing tests, they don’t have to travel all the way to Dubbo to get a test,” Mrs Lee said.
Mrs Lee is employed at the school and volunteers her time to get the program running in Wellington.
She said that while the work is rewarding, she does it for the community.
“The work is excellent for the community because it provides a lot of people with the help that they probably haven’t been able to get before.”
Volunteer director Rachel Mills said Mrs Lee has been instrumental in getting the program moving in Wellington in recent years.
