Corrective Services NSW Remembrance Day

Corrective Services NSW Remembrance Day is held annually and also marks the lives of staff who died while employed and those who died after retiring.

General manager Brad Peebles said the day was important to the uniformed organisation.

“It’s important to remember how lucky we are to have never had anyone killed on duty,” Mr Peebles said. 

“We’re a uniformed organisation dealing with dangerous and violent people. We have had staff injured before – some return to work, others don’t.”

Mr Peebles said incidents of violence occur weekly.

“The serious violent incidents might happen a few times a year.”
