He’ll headline the second Wellington Jazz and Sculpture Festival.
Event coordinator Kim Kiss said the community is excited by the world class performer’s appearance.
“After a stellar performance at the White House this year, James Morrison will appear at Wellington Showground from 5pm on Saturday, September 3.
“James Morrison is, by anybody’s standard. a virtuoso in the true sense of the word.
“Besides the trumpet, this multi-instrumentalist also plays piano, all the brass, saxophones, and double bass, performing internationally with the Tonkunstler Orchestra at the Muskverein in Vienna, The London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, and guesting with artists as diverse as Phil Collins, Chaka Khan and rock legends INXS. James Morrison has performed with many of the legends of Jazz including; Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Brown, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles and BB King.”
Wellington Arts has secured The James Morrison Band as their focal event, being part of the Arts and Sculpture Festival to be held September 3-4.
James will perform at the Wellington Showground, with his band at 5pm.
Tickets for the event are $45, available at Wellington Tourist Information Centre and Put The Kettle On.
Ms Kiss is excited for the community this is a coup for the Wellington festival she said.”
Local patrons are encouraged to purchase their tickets early for this event, as regional visitors will take up this opportunity quickly.

Wellington Arts has merged its Arts in the Garden and Jazz & Sculpture Festival from last year, to create Wellington Arts & Sculpture Festival, as a major event for Wellington’s annual event calendar.
‘’Wellington Arts has created an opportunity for James Morrison to work with the Wellington Primary School Band and the Wellington Town Band, while he is in Wellington.
Sculptures, Arts and Performances will be on exhibition at Hermitage Hill, creating a lazy day, to sit and enjoy performances from musicians, chat with artists and immerse in arts.
Gates will be open 10am -3pm Saturday & Sunday with $5 entry.
