A wild storm late Wednesday afternoon in Wellington caused widespread damage bringing down power lines, trees crashed into homes and hail battered some of the region.

But fortunately there were no reported injuries.
At Glasson st a tree hit by lightning severed in two and fell on two homes.
A resident calmly called the state emergency service whose members worked into the night to remove debris and cut down the tree from rooftops.
The neighbours had a cup of tea while SES workers ensured the aftermath of the storm which only lasted a few minutes was fixed.
Another tree fell dangerously in a backyard at Thornton street but was cleaned up the SES in a hectic day for the service.
Powerlines crashed down near the railway line NSW Fire and Rescue and Esssential Energy worked to restore the line.
