Scott Jones was saving up to visit his sick mother who is undergoing chemotherapy in Sydney, but now he might not make that visit.

"I haven't told her," he said. "I don't want to tell her. I always visit when she's sick, I've been there for every operation."

Damage to the windscreen of his car makes it impossible to drive until it's fixed and the total cost of damages to the car will be $1500 - money he'd been putting aside throughout the year for the trip and his next lot of registration.

The children have been throwing bricks onto his roof in Maxwell Street and into his yard and his neighbour's.

He said while he had grills on his window, he feared for the safety of people who didn't.

"I worry about the children who could be sitting near the windows," he said.

"If they are throwing rocks and hit someone with a rock and kill them they are going to go to jail. They can't go 'oh s**t, sorry'."

He said he was also worried about the safety of the children committing the crimes.

"They are going to do it to the wrong person and that person is going to lose it and not even bother calling the police, they will deal with it themselves.

"Nearly all of these kids will end up in jail or dead before they are 20."

For two months now, bricks have been landing on his roof at night.

"Sometimes they come every night, sometimes they come every second or third night," he said.

"You'll be watching TV and hear a bang."

He said the children knew they weren't going to get caught after a certain time of night and were even more brazen.

"We need more police patrolling," he said.

"We need a 24-hour police station."
