The initial meeting of the club is to be held at the Wellington Bowling Club on Friday December 4 at 10am.
Probus, is a Community Service Activity of Rotary Clubs and was first formed in Australia in 1976 after being initially formed in the UK that same year. It has had huge growth worldwide.
The mover behind the resurgence of Wellington Probus has been John Wykes who will be the incoming chairman. He will be ably assisted by Geoff Plasto as secretary.
To quote from Probus literature
"Probus is an association for active members of the community to join together for a new lease of life.
"It aims to advance intellectual and cultural interests and provide opportunities to progress healthy minds and active bodies."
Probus is open to any person who is retired or semi-retired and wishes to be involved in the stimulation that this club offers.
The format is expected to be a short meeting at 10am with morning tea. There will then be a guest speaker with questions to follow.
The first guest speaker will be prominent Dubbo doctor, Professor Joe Canalese OAM, a foundation member of the School of Rural Health at the Dubbo Campus, University of Sydney.
All are welcome to come along and think about joining this group.
