The senior cricket season gets under way tomorrow and the Federal Hotel Twenty/20 competition has seven teams, an increase of two.

Association secretary Marie Cornish said it was good news for local cricket.
"Many thanks must go to Federal Hotel manager Garry Handcock for his iniative in sponsoring the association for the next three years," she said.
"He has plenty planned for after the match each Saturday and every representative match.
"Thanks must go to the Bowling Club for its ongoing support during the past few years.
"Thanks also to one of the original teams in this competition - Western Riot, led by Jason Ryan and Tom McInnes for all their hard work in keeping the competition going and fostering many junior players who are now being picked up by other teams."
Team profiles:
Farmers: an original team in the competition is a family team lead by Angus Maurice along with the Taylor's and Kisses.
Amaroo Woodpeckers: another original team of ex Dubbo first graders lead by Brian Furner and Jim Saranizouklis
Amaroo Woodducks: this is a new team of Dubbo working youngsters who want to enjoy one-day cricket instead of two. This team is led by Harry Kempsten and mates.
Geurie: yet another of the original teams which has maintained its involvement in the competition. The team is led by Brad Meyers and Pat Randall. more page 6

The Geurie Goats is a real family team and is playing in its second season. The Goats are led by Sam Redfern and feature all his brothers and cousins.
Cow and Calf Cowboys: great to see the League boys returning to the game and being led by Aiden Ryan and Jake Tolhurst.
Federal Thundercats: this is a returning team and is made up of the Dutfield family and patrons, and led by Scott and Brian.

Representative team
This team is also being sponsored by the Federal Hotel and is led by Brad Johnson and Nick Cosier in combination. They will be hoping to defend their Brewery Shield crown and go one or two better in the Cricket NSW McDonald's Plate State KO.
If there is any player wishing to be considered for this team please contact Brad or Nick.
Their first game is scheduled for October 18 against Dubbo in the Brewery Shield has been postponed and in the McDonald's Plate KO, they have drawn a home game against Gilgandra on November 8.
The association wishes Brad and Nick all the best with their venture to playing grade in Dubbo with the Macquarie Club alongside Keiran Brien and Cody Hannelly.
Juniors
What a season is planned for the juniors this year.
It tomorrow morning with the McDonald's Gala/Registration from 10am to 1pm at Pioneer Park.
12s and 14s have entered the Dubbo District Junior Cricket Competition with games for 12s commencing October 17 and the 14s on October 24.
Their competition has commenced with Wellington asking for the first week off. These games are a mixture of one and two-day matches and negotiations are in place for the draw to be done on a home and away basis.
Milo In2 Cricket youngsters will still have their games on Saturday mornings.
For the 12s and 14s - managers and coaches will be required from parents. Please put your name forward to assist if you can.
Representative Cricket
This Sunday October 11 is the trials for the Macquarie Valley Cricket Council Junior teams in Dubbo from 11am. Those chosen will play in the Western Zone Competition 12s,14s and 16s Boys during November and December.
Some players' parents have already been contacted regarding these trials but if you would like to attend and have not been named, please see Marie tomorrow.
All players are to wear whites, take plenty of drinks, hat, sunscreen and a ball as well as their cricket gear.

Congratulations
Well done to Brittany Owens and Bianca Douglas for their recent selection in the Western Zone Female 18s and 15s teams that played at the McDonald's Country Championships last week.
Bianca also gained selection in one of the four State Challenge teams playing next week for the final selection process in the NSW Metropolitan and ACT/Country teams to contest the National Carnivals.
Needed
The association is also on the lookout for two publicity officers - a junior and senior are required to cover their respective games etc. Please see Jason Ryan (president) or Marie Cornish (secretary). It is not a hard job as everyone sits on a computer these days and score sheets will be given to you.

Seniors are playing their first games of the Federal Hotel Twenty/20 competition.
Don't forget to head back after your games to the association sponsors on the roundabout (the Thundercats home and the Golden Arches) for plenty of chat, laughter and a cool drink.
