Capturing the hearts of children everywhere, the picture book The Brothers Quibble was such a hit for National Simultaneous Storytime, that students at Wellington Public School even wrote letters to author Alan Blabey asking him to visit their school.

"He is coming into his own this year with books like Thelma the Unicorn and Pig the Fibber, and the kids have been getting really interested in the authors themselves," librarian Kylie Fitzsimmons said.
"They started asking for more books by this author and they are really interested in the author being a real person, how he came to write something different and how creative minds think," she said.
Schools, preschools and childcare centres across the nation all stopped to read The Brothers Quibble and Wellington was no exception.
The library was packed at St Mary's Catholic School and librarian Anne Edwards said whether they were in Kindergarten or even year 9, it was something the school always looked forward to.
She said books chosen each year for the Australian Library and Information Association event were always guaranteed to captivate children of all ages and foster that love of reading.
"St Mary's has been involved for four years and they choose books that are always spot on," she said.
"I think with this book the children remember being a nasty big brother or sister. It really covers a lot of aspects of everyday life.
"The Very Cranky Bear [read in 2012] was something good-humoured again," she said.
More than 45 children came to the Wellington branch of Macquarie Regional Library including Nanima Preschool and local parents and children.
Librarian Amy Swan said the library bug paid a visit for the special occasion and children also took part in craft and singing.
"It encourages children to value reading," she said, adding that the children loved the sense of occasion and reading together.
"This is a united effort right across Australia."
The event also ties in with Library and Information week for adults, to let them know about what is available at their local library.
The library recently held a very successful internet class and now residents are encouraged to take part in the community collage on the front window of the library, using special pens that have been supplied.
