National Storytime this Wednesday
A perfect opportunity to have a special time with the children, grandchildren or nephews and nieces will be held on this Wednesday May 27 at 11am.
Our usual Storytime will become a national event, when Wellington Library will join thousands of people across Australia reading The Brothers Quibble by Aaron Blabey for the National Simultaneous Storytime.
Fun craft related to the chosen book as well as interactive entertainment based on reading and learning will be part of this session.
There is no need to book, so if you have children between 0 and five years of age bring them along and borrow some books or DVDs to enjoy at home afterwards.
Your face on a book
Selfie kings and queens of the world, you have never seen a selfie like this ...
Bookface selfies are the new thing to do, and could win you prizes should you care to submit a photo in the Macquarie Regional Library Bookface competition, open now. All you have to do is find a book cover with a face on it (they are out there and there are lots of them, particularly in the biographies section) then take a photo of yourself with the book held up over your face.
Be creative, and submit your entries today by email to info@mrl.nsw.gov.au. More information can be found at Wellington Library or on the website at www.mrl.nsw.gov.au.
This competition is open to all ages and great prizes are up for grabs, so snap and win!
100 Mandalas for Mindfulness by Jean-Luc Geurin: book review
This is not your average book review and not your average book. In the mind and philosophy section at Wellington Library you will find a form of self-therapy you may not have seen before.
It is therapeutic colouring in for adults. Before you scoff and move on to the next section of this paper, consider how much tension many adults experience in life, and the multitude of tasks and obligations harassing the average brain.
The tangle in there can produce negative effects on mental health, and something as simple as a colouring book for adults can help.
Structured in a circular, symmetrical, fun pattern with complex and interesting artworks, these mandalas can help with focus and bringing your concentration to one practical point.
It is preferable for borrowers to photocopy the chosen artworks for colouring purposes, but this can be a simple and effective way to bring your mind back to the present.
100 Mandalas for Mindfulness is available for loan at Wellington Library.
Macquarie Regional Library, Wellington Branch, is located on the corner of Maughan and Percy Streets, Wellington. Phone: 6845 2156 Website: www.mrl.nsw.gov.au
