"It's still more than half the size of the Sydney Harbour and it's 13 per cent full," he said.
"The fish are biting big time and the facilities are ready and the bookings are very good.
"We expect at least 2700 people which is about the same as last year but that number could be much bigger."
Lake Burrendong will host the Lake Burrendong Fishing Classic this weekend with events beginning on Good Friday with a pre- event briefing at 4pm.
The three day Classic boasts $50,000 in prizes.
Matt Hansen, who is the president of the event, said 64 businesses from across the central west have supported the event.
"Our top anglers can win cars, boats. There's heaps of prizes and great fun and friendship," he said.
"The event begins with a briefing on Friday afternoon at 4pm and people can then begin fishing or start Saturday morning.
"We'll be presenting the winners at 3pm on Sunday afternoon. We're reminding fans we have a huge fireworks display on the Saturday night which will really be a family event.
"Entries should total somewhere between 1100 and 1300 which is sensational.
"We had a record year in 2013 and who knows how many we will get this time."
Mr Kirk said an Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday morning from 9am will excite the kids.
"It was fantastic last year and the kids had a great time," he said.
