Oxley Museum's strategic plan on the road

The Oxley Museum will receive thousands of dollars from the state government to help keep it going into the future.

The NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Arts Troy Grant said it was a boon for the museum.

"The Oxley Museum will receive $3576 towards the development of a strategic plan for the Museum that will help guide its future and the preservation of its collection,'' he said

"This project will help preserve and improve the display of important local artefacts."

Wellington mayor Rod Buhr said he was pleased about the cash injection to assist the museum.

"This will help a pathway for the museum to look to the future," he said.

Mr Grant said the government was determined to ensure communties participate in the work of museums.

"This funding is part of our commitment to increasing opportunities for participation in arts and cultural activities in local communities," he said.

"We support the work of these museums to preserve collections for the rest of the community to enjoy."

Museums and Galleries NSW is a service organisation managing funding on behalf of Arts NSW to support a program of small grants for the museums and galleries sector in7;NSW.

Council and the Wellington Historical Society are working together to secure the museum's future.

Meanwhile, Wellington is also winner in the NSW Community Building Partnerships grants. The state member for Orange Andrew Gee said the projects would further boost Wellington's innovative community spirit.

The state government has given the Wellington Amateur Theatrical Society $20,000 for a storage shed.

The Wellington Junior Soccer can now put concrete down on its awning at Pioneer Park and the Wellington Amateur Swimming Club has received $12,000 to fix its club room
