Historic steam locomotive under the microscope again Wednesday night.

Among the recommendations councillors will consider is a proposal to ask for expressions of interest from community-based incorporated bodies or organisations for the ongoing operation, management and maintenance of the steam engine.

A further report detailing the outcomes of that process will be brought back to Council at its ordinary meeting on February 25 2015.

A report to the council also states that should a community-based incorporated body appointed by Council not be able to continue with the effective management of the engine, or none step forward during the initial process, Council will either decommission the John Fowler steam engine and place it on static display or offer the steam engine for sale.

Another recommendation to be considered is Ainsworth Engineering Pty Ltd be engaged to manage and operate the John Fowler steam engine for the Springfest event in September as a once off engagement, with funds set aside in the current budget used to pay for this.

That only persons considered to be competent in the operation of the John Fowler steam engine be authorised by the Technical Services director to operate the steam engine and that Council engage an independent person to undertake competency testing of interested persons with such persons wishing to be so tested, doing so at their own expense.

Councillors will also look at the crucial changes to the two timber bridges. Dripstone bridge on the Burrendong Way and the Gundy bridge on the Renshaw McGirr Way are both in a state of disrepair and have ailing infrastructure.
