A cheque handed by the state government and the Cobbora transition fund to give back after the Liberal/national party put the Cobbora mine up for sale or lease. Other affected Councils in Dubbo, Mid Western and Warrumbungle also received $1million from the state government.

"While we have terminated the State's obligation to develop the mine and have saved taxpayers over $1.5 billion in avoided liabilities, the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government recognises the need to help the community recover from Labor's legacy, which had resulted in the loss of many farming families and productive agricultural land," he said.
the chairman of the Cobbora Transition fund member for Dubbo Troy Grant said.
"That is why the Government is assisting local communities with investment in local infrastructure, which will create jobs and deliver the greatest economic benefit to the region." MrGrant said.
"At the same time the Government has developed a comprehensive land management plan to improve the quality of the site and to allow for ongoing productive agricultural use pending the sale or lease of the mine."
Cr Buhr with deputy mayor David Grant alongside showed The NSW Treasurer the opening stages of the CBD beautification plan along Wellington's main street, together with State Members for orange and dubbo Andrew Gee and Troy Grant. The stages which follow are also on the shortlist for the $16mil of additional funding from the Cobbora transition fund together with six other council projects and the Wiradjuri Cultural centre.
The mayor and Councillors Grant and Mark Griggs together with the general manager then showed the NSW Treasurer the plans for the further stages of the CBD beautification.
Cr Buhr said it was an exciting beginning the headline project for Wellington '' We are very pleased to receive this funding of stages 1 and 2 of this project for our LGA'' he said.
''We have an anticipated date for this project in 2015'' Cr Buhr said.
The Treasurer said he would also be happy to look at a proposal where councils did something similar to a federal government proposal to state treasurers for a sale of assets and the money received put back into infrastructure he said it made sense for the balance sheet.
He also said there was a 20 year road map for the Bells Line of Road and things were moving along well.
