DUBBO Regional Council have issued a boil water alert for the Wellington township.

The alert was issued late on Monday evening for Wellington properties connected to town water supply.

Council announced the alert in a post on their facebook page, saying the water could be made safe by bringing it to a rolling bowl.

"Electric kettles with automatic shut off switches are sufficient for this purpose and should reduce the risk of scalding.

"Variable temperature kettles should be set to boil. Water should then be allowed to cool and stored in a clean container with a lid and refrigerated.

"Cooled boiled or bottled water should be used for: cooking, washing uncooked foods (such as seafood and salad) making ice, pet's drinking water, brushing teeth and gargling, sponge bathing young children, preparing baby formula, washing toys and children's utensils," the post said.
