Jespresso café owner and Wellington Business Chamber president Jess Gough has recently opened up the Arthur View café.

The idea to open the new business started after Ms Gough saw an opportunity to deliver food and drinks to locals, visitors and contractors working on the various project's around the town on the weekends.

"I wanted to do something completely different to not take away from the clientele of businesses already here," Ms Gough said.

Customers can enjoy a set menu during breakfast and lunch, with the café focusing on clean produce.

As well as fresh juices, there are dairy and gluten free options, plus vegan and vegetarian.

Ms Gough said she has also partnered with Peta Glover who uses the Arthur View kitchen to prepare food which is then taken out to the Wellington solar farm.

"So it's helping another business in town who employees two people," she said.

Despite opening during unknown times due to COVID-19, Ms Gough said the response has been positive and has put a range of measures in place to ensure the safety of staff and customers.

"Overall the response has been quite positive and really well received," she said.

Ms Gough is passionate about businesses in Wellington and supporting local.

As part of her work on the Wellington Business Chamber, Ms Gough was instrumental in the Buy Local or Bye Local campaign run by Dubbo Regional Council in 2019.

At the time of the campaign's launch mayor Ben Shields said the program would help keep locals employed.

"More than 2500 people are employed in retail across the council area. By shopping local, you are supporting locals by contributing to wages, helping keep local businesses in the region," Clr Shields said.
