While rain gauges were topped up many times with good falls, for most towns it just wasn't enough.
The June rainfall tally in Cowra, Parkes and Young all surpassed the long-term median.

In Cowra 53.0 millimetres was recorded (median of 40.5mm), in Parkes 66.6mm of rain was received (51.9mm is the median), while in Young 68.6mm fell (65.2mm).
Orange might have been the wettest location during June with 69.0 millimetres recorded by the Bureau of Meteorology, but that still fell short of the long-term median of 77.3mm.
In Forbes the exact long-term median rainfall of 49.8mm was recorded, with 28.6mm of that falling in just one day - June 14.
During the 30-day period, the BoM's weather station at Bathurst Airport recorded 35.4mm, which is below the June average of 44.0mm.
Dubbo was a little drier with 32.6mm of rain received, also below the month's median of 48.9mm.
