A woman has been charged after allegedly punching and spitting on an officer in Wellington yesterday.

About 2.45pm on Tuesday, May 26, police were called to Thornton Street, Wellington, after reports that a woman was involved in an altercation.
Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and were told that a woman was standing in the middle of the road waving her arms about when a car slowed down to avoid her.
The woman allegedly kicked the car, damaging the rear side door.
Police attempted to speak to the woman before she spat at and punched a Leading Senior Constable in the face.
After resisting police, the 21-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Wellington Police Station.
While at the station, the woman allegedly spat in the face of the officer again.
She was charged with two counts of not comply noticed direction re spitting/coughing - COVID-19, resist officer in execution of duty, three counts of assault officer in execution of duty, and destroy or damage property.
The Albury woman was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday, May 27.
