The recently renovated $8.5 million Wellington pool was vandalised overnight, with the cost of damage to be assessed following a police forensic examination.
The front automatic entry door was removed from its tracking system, internal doors to the multi-purpose room and reception area were forced open door jambs, locks and handles damaged.
Dubbo Regional Council liveability director Skye Price said the use of an alternative entry has allowed Wellington Aquatic Leisure Centre to open as usual today.
"The new WALC is a tremendous facility enjoyed and very much used by the local community," she said.
"This senseless act of vandalism does not represent the spirit of the Wellington community and its respect for facilities like the new aquatic leisure centre."
The Wellington pool officially opened to the public in November 2019 after undergoing more than a year's worth of renovations.
Redevelopments included a new eight lane heated pool with disabled access, a heated exercise and learn to swim pool, splash pad and new amenities.
