Next month Heifer Station Wines will host the fourth annual Feast for Farmers event that aims to raise money to help support the agricultural families within the Cabonne Shire.

It will be an afternoon of food, music and fundraising with Heifer Station Wines owner Phillip Stivens saying while the event was still six weeks away, preparations were going well.

"We've been jogging along nicely. We've got A Day on the Green behind us so we can now start focusing on that," he said.

Guests will be treated to a canapes, a grazing table lunch, stroll through the vineyard and entertainment.

Later on the raffles and auction will be held with proceeds going to the Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak for distribution amongst farming communities in need.

Last year a whopping $42,000 was raised and the organisers are hopeful for a similar figure this year.

The voucher system will help ensure local businesses doing it tough due to the ongoing drought conditions will be looked after too.

"So the money will go around within the business community as well, it's two-fold because businesses do it just as tough as what farmers do," the Heifer Station Wines owner said.

Mr Stivens said every little bit helps, adding that it has been tough for everyone in recent months.

"Nothing's changed as far as the drought's concerned, it's still here," he said.

"This (the drought) is inter-generational in regards to the damage it has done. And it doesn't look as if it's going to change anytime soon. It's devastating right through."

Over the three years since the fundraiser first started, Mr Stivens said about 100 local farmers and businesses have been supported.

"The whole idea was the money to go within the local area for personal use," Mr Stivens explained.

Organisers estimate about 300 people turned out to last year's Feast for Farmers and they are hoping for another good crowd in March.

The winery owner said the generosity of people within the community to support the event with volunteer work and produce was "amazing."

This an 18 years and over event, with tickets priced at $165. It will be held on Saturday, March 28.
