The five new teachers, plus two aides commenced their employment this week with Term 1, 2020 commencing.

Among the new faces is teacher Erin Mitchell, who commutes daily from Dubbo to teach the 12 Year 4 students.

Originally from Canberra, Ms Mitchell has travelled across the country and overseas, teaching students.

Her most recent teaching job was in England, a big difference in weather and population when compared to Wellington.

"I love it, I love the staff. They're so fun, friendly and kind and very helpful," Ms Mitchell said of Wellington and of the school.

The well travelled teacher says she loves morphing different studies into one and hopes to bring that into her classroom and make lessons fun.

"And I love maths and I think so many people have a fear of it and I just don't see why," she said.

"I want kids to come out of my classroom and be like 'I don't want to go out to lunch, I want to stay here.'"

Rachel Eagleston is another new staff member at St Mary's, but the school is close to her heart.

Originally from Wellington, Ms Eagleston is now living in Dubbo, and is a former student.

Ms Eagleston is a teacher's aide and says she has always wanted to help students in some way.

It has been about eight years since she finished her own schooling, but said she loves being back.

"I love this school and it's even better starting my first year of being a teacher's aide," Ms Eagleston explained.

She said the first few days of Term 1 have been great and she has enjoyed getting to know more about her role as an aide with Kindergarten.

Her advice to others considering getting into education as a career was to just go for it.

"It is probably the most rewarding thing getting to help a child's education and help them grow as a person," she explained.

"I just think they should go for it and not hold back."

As well as new staff, there were also 21 new, Kindergartener's that began their school journey at St Mary's this year.

While some were a bit hesitant on the first day, most were happy to say goodbye to their parents and followed their teacher Nicole Aleksandrovics and Ms Eagleston into the classroom.

St Mary's principal Leanne Clarke said each new student had been allocated a buddy from the Year 6 class, who would watch over them and help them throughout the year.

"The majority of the students attended our Little Saint's program last year and had the opportunity to meet their buddies then, which is great as it makes the transition to Kindergarten very smooth," Mrs Clarke said.

"It's a great group of students and all have been excitedly engaging in a number of activities today and enjoying making some great new friendships."
