Dubbo Regional Council has declined to answer questions about where work is up to in relation to an $800,000 rollout of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

The Daily Liberal understands work was being done to set up CCTV at the Myall Street shops on Friday but it's unclear what else has been done with all the money council and the state and federal governments pledged to spend.
In November 2018 council promised to spend $250,000 upgrading and expanding the CCTV network in Wellington and Dubbo after state Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders secured $250,000 in NSW government funding for new and existing CCTV technology.
Federal member for Parkes Mark Coulton also promised to give council another $300,000 to boost CCTV in Wellington and Dubbo in April.
When asked in December, a council spokesperson declined to respond directly to questions about how many new cameras were installed in 2019, where they were installed or why they had not been installed.
"Installation of new CCTV cameras is a multi-agency supported project underway in Dubbo and Wellington," a council spokesman said.
"Council will provide a progress update on the $800,000 project early in 2020."
Mr Coulton said he understood council had so far collected $285,000 from the federal government to complete the CCTV work.
"Instalments of the grant funds are tied to the council achieving project milestones in accordance with a funding agreement," he said.
"I am advised that a tender process for the project work is complete and preliminary works under way for the installation of conduit and fibre, with cameras expected to be installed once this process is complete.
"I am also advised that the project is due for completion in April 2020."
Mr Saunders said the state government gave the council $250,000 in January 2019 to undertake the promised CCTV work.
"Work has been completed on the CCTV radio system link that allows remote monitoring of the cameras from either Wellington or Dubbo police stations," Mr Saunders said.
"It is also my understanding that servers at both stations have been upgraded, and that new cameras have been installed in both locations while others have been upgraded."
