About 9pm on Thursday, January 2, a 75-year-old man was approached by three men and was detained on his property at Byrock, north of Cobar.
The group ransacked the house and left a few hours later along with cash and keys.
The 75-year-old man was taken to Bourke Police District Hospital where he was treated for injuries.
The three men have allegedly used the keys to enter a premises at John Brass Place, Dubbo on Friday, January 3.
A crime scene has been established, and an investigation is underway.
