Wellington man James Mitchell Pomfret was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for six months when he appeared before Dubbo Local Court magistrate Theresa Hamilton on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old was also slapped with an eight-month intensive corrections order, which is a term of imprisonment served in the community.
Pomfret pleaded guilty to negligent driving and refusing a breath test. He was convicted of both offences.
Court documents revealed Pomfret appeared heavily intoxicated when he got behind the wheel of a Nissan Navara and had a minor collision with a security guard near the Pastoral Hotel in the early hours of August 31.
He was arrested by police but refused to undergo a breath test and demanded he be given painkillers and water.
In court, Pomfret's legal representative said her client was hardworking and well regarded in the community.
