The 20 Wellington High School students and five teachers were able to go on the 12 day excursion thanks to a partnership with Real Madrid Foundation.
Wellington High was the first school in Australia to accept a partnership with the foundation in 2015 and the following year the first lot of students and staff travelled overseas.
The 2019 cohort have recently returned to Australia and Wellington High teacher Dillon Price said the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
While there the students and staff got to experience many cultural opportunities as well as football.
Some of those football experiences included watching a top-of-the-table match between Real Madrid and Granada.
Mr Price said it was a thrilling and action-packed game with six goals scored.
While there, students toured the Real Madrid stadium and had the chance to sit in the players change rooms.
The trip was a chance for the young football fanatics to experience first-hand an international game, Mr Price said, adding it was also a cultural eye-opener.
"We often told them that a smile and a please and thank you in a foreign language in a foreign country would open a lot of doors and the kids found that as well," he explained
"Every time we got off and on a bus they would say thank you or good morning in Spanish. They learnt to communicate with people who might not speak English.. it just broke down a few language barriers which was important for them to learn."
Students got to participate in training exercises at one of the Real Madrid academy pitches with a qualified coach.
"They responded really well and its the hardest we have seen them train as part of the program," Mr Price added.
"The environment that they're in screams excellence so it's hard not to live up to the standard.
"There's no other facility like it in Australia, in any sport or code. It's next level professionalism."
Being a part of the Real Madrid Foundation the plan and hope now for Wellington High School is to send the next group over in two years time.
"Hopefully there will be another group of kids being able to experience it in two years time, which is fantastic for a little school in the central west," Mr Price said.
"There's not many public schools int he central west that are able to offer this, and we're very proud of being bale to offer these opp to our students...."
On behalf of the students, Mr Price thanked the sponsors that helped make the trip possible, the Real Madrid Foundation and Dreamtime Tuka.
He also gave a special mention to the individual sponsors that sponsored individual children.
