After more than a year of ongoing work, the new-look Wellington Aquatic and Leisure Centre will open to the public with a family day this weekend. The community will be able to access the pool free of charge for the open day.
Cob loaf competition:
Wellington, November 16
The third annual Cob Loaf competition will be held at Cameron Park this Saturday from 4pm. Judging will be from 6pm. This year's competition will have four categories; dessert, hot, cold and international. A champion will be crowned in each of the categories and of those winners, an overall cob loaf world champion will be announced. One of the newest additions to the 2019 festival will be a bike ride from Mudgee to Wellington that morning to help kick off the event.
Fashion Parade:
Narromine, November 16
Narromine's Style 33 Boutique are hosting a fashion parade. All proceeds will be donated to the Narromine Cancer Support Group. The event will be at the Narromine Generosity Church on Dandaloo Street from 11am. Tickets are 15 per person and light refreshments will be provided.
Get behind the lens:
Dubbo, November 15
Dubbo residents will be able to join Filmmakers for a night of International and locally made short films at the 7th annual One Eye Film Festival. The event will be held at the Dubbo RSL Club from 7pm. Tickets can be purchased from Club Reception or www.dubborsl.com.au.
Fight Night:
Nyngan, November 16
Get your gloves ready as Nyngan prepares to host the Shed Boxing Club's Fight Night. Included in this year's 20 bout 'Red Dirt Dust Up' fight night, there will be two country titles up for grabs and one NSW state title. The main event is an Australian Global League boxing welterweight title with former Bourke lad Lynken Dickson taking on Ben Hayes from Parkes.This year the fight night will be held at the Nyngan Showground on Saturday, November 16 with doors opening at 6pm.
There will be a shuttle bus running all night and stopping at the local pubs and club. Tickets are $30 through www.123tix.com.au by clicking on 'The Red Dirt Dust Up'.
Musical greats:
Dubbo, November 14
Best known as the middle-men of two of Australia's greatest musical-comedy trios, Paul McDermott (Doug Anthony All-stars) and Steven Gates (Tripod) will lock harmonies and minds in one unmissable show to be held at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre on Thursday from 8pm. The show will comprise an evening of beauty and heartbreak, freshly-minted comedy concoctions, old squabbles and more.
